About our Organisation
Bestwood Park Community Association, a CIO since 2015, brings people together to reduce social isolation and strengthen community spirit across Bestwood and Top Valley. Volunteer-led and partnership-driven, the Association creates inclusive opportunities for connection through seasonal family fun days, day trips, and community clean-up events.
It also supports existing local groups and clubs, working alongside trusted partners such as Bestwood Park Church, The Ridge Adventure Playground, and Bestwood Park Nursery. Its core aim is to foster a stronger, more supportive neighbourhood where residents of all ages and backgrounds feel valued, involved, and empowered to take part in community life.
Summary of events and activities to be delivered
This project includes four seasonal Family Fun Days—held in Summer, Autumn, Christmas, and Spring—within the Community. These intergenerational events will feature themed stalls, arts and crafts, heritage storytelling, food, music, and interactive zones. Emergency and statutory services, such as Southglade Family Hub, will be present to offer information and support.
A weekly Dementia-Friendly Café will run at the church from September 2025 to March 2026 (approximately 28 weeks), creating a welcoming space for older residents. Activities will include Sticky 13, Bingo, quizzes, and heritage reminiscence prompts, alongside refreshments, peer support, and service signposting.
Parent & Toddler Sessions will take place weekly during term-time at the church hub (approx. 24 sessions), co-delivered with Bestwood Park Nursery and Southglade Family Hub. These informal drop-ins will include free play, crafts, early-years advice, and peer networking opportunities for parents and carers.
An After-School Club for children aged 5–11 will also run weekly during term-time (approx. 24 sessions), offering varied activities such as cooking, sports, storytelling, creative arts, and cultural heritage workshops delivered by guest facilitators, encouraging positive social interaction and learning.
